Model, Les Troyens

This is a Model. It is dated 2012. Its medium is laser-cut mdf, recreated for exhibition; staged 2012, royal opera house, london, uk . It is a part of the department.

“The opera Les Troyens is based on Virgil’s epic poem The Aeneid. It presents war and peace as two sides of civilization constantly chasing one another. This is an early sketch model of the Trojan horse. It was realized as a massive 7-meter sculpture formed of weapons. This gesture of amnesty proved treacherous when its mane burst into flames.”

It is credited Courtesy of Es Devlin.
