Sidewall - Sample (USA)
This is a Sidewall - sample. It is dated 1906–08 and we acquired it in 1985. Its medium is machine-printed. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.
American art nouveau design with different views of the thistle, rendered in a realistic manner. Thistle, though a beautiful wildflower, is more often viewed as a weed and not commonly used on wallpaper. Printed in natural colors the design would have been appropriate for the earthy colors favored in the early twentieth century.
