Electric Teakettle Teakettle
This is a teakettle. It was designed by Peter Behrens and manufactured by Allgemeine Elektrizitäts Gesellschaft. It is dated 1908 and we acquired it in 1984. Its medium is silver-plated metal, rattan, wood. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
A member of the Deutsche Werkbund, an association of designers, architects and manufacturers founded in 1907 to promote high quality industrial design and production, Peter Behrens was committed to the ideal of creating an appropriate style for industrial products. His desings for the AEG firm ranged from graphics to product desing and factory architecture. (Toward Modern Design, 1993)
