Celadon glazed teapot shaped like a pumpkin - eg a distorted globe which tapers slightly inwards at top and bottom. The ear-shaped handle is ''pinched' at the side and ends in a scrolled curl where it attaches to the body. [Visually, the handle resembles the outline of a bird’s head where the pinch is the beak and the curl is the eye.] The spout is fluted and visually reminiscent of a pumpkin stem. The pattern on the body is made up of three bands of narrowly spaced vertical lines, in alternating darker and lighter shades of tan. The middle band of lines is slightly off-kilter from the bands above and below, e.g. a “break” in the alignment of the linear pattern. The lid is small, circular and fits into the body. It’s topped with a knob and has what appears to be a small hole, perhaps for venting steam. The lid has the same alternating stripes pattern as the body.
