Drawing, Study 147-137#2c2
This is a Drawing. It was designed by John De Cesare. It is dated June 9, 1964 and we acquired it in 1982. Its medium is color pencil, graphite on cream wove paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
These two drawings represent the upper and lower portions of a wall decoration. At the bottom is the artist's translation of the vocal part of "The Star Spangled Banner." The designs of the central vertical bands contain all 32 measures of the score, reading from bottom to top. The outline forms of the urn motif on either side of the central panels are also derived from the artist's translation of the score.
