Apostles Jug With Lid
This is a Jug with lid. It was manufactured by Charles Meigh. It is dated 1842 and we acquired it in 2007. Its medium is glazed stoneware, britania metal. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
The parks collection of English relief-molded ceramincs, a selection of which is seen here, focuses on form, color, and motifs as well as technological advances. Social and design history is conveyed in the recurrence of medieval-revival themes, such as aposteles and the hunting scene shown here, and imagery from antiquity and contemporary painting.
