Madame de Pompadour (née Poisson) Covered Tureen And Stand

We have 3 images of Madame de Pompadour (née Poisson) Covered Tureen And Stand .

Rosy-pink glazed porcelain set of covered tureen and platter, with silkscreened portraits and platinum accents. The bulging, lobed oval tureen has two scrolling loop handles, one at each side, and four elegant scrolled feet. It is decorated at front with a large central cartouche showing the artist dressed as Madame de Pompadour: a light-skinned woman wearing a low-cut pale pink and blue bodice and a silvery curled wig, reclining on her right elbow in a garden landscape. Her face is relaxed, with her eyes closed. Atop the lobed lid is a central knob sculpted in the form of large platinum-colored flower buds with white and platinum leaves. The pink surfaces of lid and tureen are embellished with platinum scrollwork and floral sprays, the flower buds rendered as tiny fish. The low-relief floral surfaces of the white handles and feet are also picked out with platinum. The platter is roughly oval in shape with a white rectangular well, sculpted to fit the tureen’s feet. The rim is wide and flaring, its two scrolled ends curling under at each side to form handles. At each side the platter is decorated with the same portrait image, facing in. The pink ground is accented with little low-relief white garlands picked out with platinum, and platinum scrollwork and floral sprays.
