Fragment (France), late 18th century

This is a Fragment. It is dated late 18th century and we acquired it in 1995. Its medium is linen and its technique is block printed using resist, vat dyed in indigo on plain weave. every third weft is twice as thick as the other wefts giving the fabric a ribbed appearance. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell. It is credited Bequest of Elinor Merrell.
