Fragment (England)

This is a Fragment. It was produced by Thomas Clarkson & Co.. It is dated 1850–1900 and we acquired it in 1996. Its medium is cotton and its technique is roller printed on plain weave foundation; two rows of blue weft indicate the fabric heading. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell. It is credited Bequest of Elinor Merrell.

Its dimensions are

Warp x Weft: 8 x 66 cm (3 1/8 x 26 in.) Repeat H (arranged as a half-drop): 5.5 cm (2 3/16 in.)

It is inscribed

Printed at bottom upside down to heading on the front, " THOs CLARKSON & Co FURNITURE PRINTER TO HER MAJESTY, HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCE OF WALES" within frame, in brown.
