Dress Clip (USA)

This is a Dress clip. It was designed by Alfred Philippe and manufactured by Trifari. It is dated before December 1937 and we acquired it in 1995. Its medium is glass rhinestones, rhodium plated base metal. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Sally Steinbach Israel. It is credited Gift of Sally Steinbach Israel in memory of Fredricka Friedman Steinbach.

Its dimensions are

Overall: 3.5 x 2.8 x 1 cm (1 3/8 x 1 1/8 x 3/8 in.)

It has the following markings

"KTF" monogram on the backside. Underneath the clasp there is another marking reading "15" with "A. Philippe" below. The "15" mark dates these two clips (1997-146-7) before December 1937. Though only one of the clips is signed, it is clear that they are of the same design, materials and maker.
