Chef De Piece, Les Quatre Parties du Monde

This is a Chef de piece. It was designed by Jean-Baptiste Huët and manufactured by Oberkampf & Cie.. It is dated ca. 1785 and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is cotton plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Cora Ginsburg. It is credited Gift of Cora Ginsburg.

Its dimensions are

Warp: 33cm (13in.). Weft: 101cm (39 3/4in.) Selvage present at right edge. Pattern: Width of printing plate: 95.5cm (37 1/2in.) No height present in piece.

It has the following markings

Factory mark at one end in use at the Oberkampf factory between the years 1792 and 1815. Partial mark which appears to be D151.
