Tea Strainer and Tray Tea Strainer, Tray

This is a tea strainer, tray. It was manufactured by Berndorf. It is dated 1930–1940 and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is silver plated, metal. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Mrs. Gertrude Fehl. It is credited Gift of Anonymous Donor.

Its dimensions are

H x W x D (cup (a)): 4 × 9.4 × 7.5 cm (1 9/16 × 3 11/16 × 2 15/16 in.) H x W x D (saucer (b)): 1.8 × 9.2 cm (11/16 × 3 5/8 in.)

It has the following markings

On the underside of tray: [1] “E”, “P”, “N”, “S”, each framed in rectangular border, impressed (standard mark) [2] Image of a bear on all fours framed in a diamond between “ART.KRUPP” and “BERNDORF” each framed in a rectangular boarder, impressed (manufacturer’s mark; 1934–1938)
