Bonbonnière (England)
This is a Bonbonnière. It is dated ca. 1755 and we acquired it in 1995. Its medium is raised and chased gold, carved gray agate, enameling on gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
These two pieces show the interest in gold with hardstones popular with English makers.
This object was featured in our Object of the Week series in a post titled Seductive Holders for Seductive Sweets.
