Timer (Denmark)
This is a timer. It is dated 1992 and we acquired it in 1993. Its medium is injection-molded plastic, metal. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
This kitchen timer resembles a toy truck’s wheel, suspended by a thick triangular base. The numbers are etched in white at regular intervals, and the wheel slowly turns as time counts down. The design of this device cannily mimics a truck wheel, which rotates slowly as it climbs steep inclines or as it carries heavy loads. Designed by Dane, Mads Odgard, this timer reflects how many Danish classics balance a practical quality with a sculpted, organic aesthetic. His mission is: “Keep it simple, and the earth livable.”
