Bowl (England)
This is a bowl. It was manufactured by Wedgwood. It is dated mid- 20th century and we acquired it in 1993. Its medium is thrown, painted, and glazed earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Wilson was a prominent figure at the Wedgwood ceramics manufactory between 1927 and 1962. During his thirty-six years with the company he introduced new kilns, designed their best-selling Globe shape line of ceramics, and worked as the Production Director and joint Managing Director, raising Wedgwood’s production levels to new heights, and creating a stable foundation for the firm’s future. This bowl, marked “WEDGWOOD” on its base, is from his tenure there.
