Drawing, Design for Vik-ter Chair, 1991
This is a Drawing. It is dated 1991 and we acquired it in 1992. Its medium is graphite on vellum. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
Dakota Jackson's "vik-ter" chair is the result of the desire to produce an elegant looking chair that can be stacked, that is comfortable, and that can be produced and sold at a moderate cost. Its wooden seat and back are padded with flexible rubber connectors at their joinings to the metal frame. Robotic technology is used in the manufacturing process to reduce costs.
It is credited Gift of Dakota Jackson.
Its dimensions are
H x W: 117 × 76.3 cm (46 1/16 × 30 1/16 in.)
It is inscribed
Inscribed in graphite at lower right: REVISED MAY 5, 91; at lower center: DAKOTA JACKSON INC/306 EAST 61st STREET N.Y.C. 10021; at lower left margin:VIK'.[centered]T[inverted E]R CHAIR/REVISED STACKING/FULL SCALE; at lower right margin: PLAN, ARC TEMPLATE, AXON/FEBRUARY 20, 1991/DRAWN: M GRAVES;
