Pleated Fan (France)

This is a Pleated fan. It is dated 1840–60 and we acquired it in 1990. Its medium is printed and gilded paper leaf, carved and pierced mother-of-pearl sticks with metallic foil, faceted stone at rivet. It is a part of the Textiles department.
