This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Karoline Berger and student at Kunstgewerbeschule. It is dated ca. 1900 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk, flat metal, and metal-wrapped silk embroidery on silk foundation and its technique is embroidered in stem, satin, and couching stitches over satin and over paper padding on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.
