Sampler (Austria)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Karoline Berger. It is dated 1899 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is cotton embroidery on cotton foundation and its technique is embroidered in deflected element work, withdrawn element work, and cutwork, padded satin, stem, back, speckling, overcasting over a cord, and herring bone stitches on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
