Evening Purse Model
This is a Model. It was made by Michael Izrael Galmer. It is dated 2015 and we acquired it in 2015. Its medium is cast plastic with applied rubber elements. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
In this evening bag featuring a chrysanthemum motif, Galmer mixes new and traditional techniques and materials for a fresh take on a well-established form and decorative theme. After creating concept drawings and a series of models and molds, he hand-chased a silver master form to create the resin mold from which the final product emerges. He then applies gilding and details like the clasp and flexible mesh side panels. He centered the fine chain strap on each side of this bag so it would not hang unevenly.
