Embossed paper-maker's mark, at bottom right corner, perpendicular to drawing and upside-down: anchor flanked by letters H & L on either side, inscribed in a circle. The band of the circle reads clockwise from top: PAPIERS A DESSIN / BRISTOLS.

Recto, in graphite, upper right corner (perpendicular to drawing): 8; at bottom right corner (perpendicular to drawing) 9; at bottom right corner of drawing: chateau de Coucy / June 1st 1887 / from the gate.
