Candlestick Candlestick, 1717–1722

This is a Candlestick. It was made by Jean Lacère (Lasserre). It is dated 1717–1722 and we acquired it in 1942. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Marian Hague.

It has the following markings

On outer rim of candle: [1] Three stars on a shield under a crown, impressed (discharge mark) On underside of base: [1] A scalloped cartouche with "LAC/ERE", impressed (maker's mark) [2] M over crescent with pallet in shield, impressed [3] A fleur-de-lis above "T O L" [illegible below], impressed (Toulouse warden's mark) On the underside of base along the rim: [1] A scalloped cartouche with "LAC/ERE", impressed (maker's mark)
