Creamer Creamer
This is a creamer. It was designed by Jean Elysée Puiforcat. It is dated ca. 1928 and we acquired it in 1982. Its medium is silver, walnut. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
one of themost innovative designers working in a purely modern idiom in the late 1920's, Puiforcat often restricts his designs to geometric forms. EAch vessel in this design from 1928, for which teh roiginal plans survive in teh puiforcat archies, is based on a sphere intersected by raised bands. Typical of Puiforcat's designs is hte combination of smooth silver and a contrasting material. (L'Art de Vivre, 1998)
It is credited Museum purchase from General Acquisitions Endowment Fund.
