Square (Italy)

This is a Square. It was made by Scuola Ricami Ranieri di Sorbello. It is dated ca. 1930 and we acquired it in 1979. Its medium is silk on linen and its technique is satin, stem, and couching stitches on plain weave (couching thread making the pattern); running stitches with very long float and short tie down with a short overhand or stem stitch covering the tie down point. It is a part of the Textiles department.
