Marie Antoinette Triptych Figure
This is a Marie Antoinette triptych figure. It was subject: Marie Antoinette, Queen of France. It is dated ca. 1880 and we acquired it in 1978. Its medium is carved ivory. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
In the late nineteenth century, the coastal town of Dieppe was a resort area and major French port. The area imported a lot of African ivory which could be carved and sold as souvenirs.
