Gros Scarabées Vase
This is a vase. It was production directed by René Lalique. It is dated 1923 and we acquired it in 1975. Its medium is mold-blown and acid-etched glass, silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
This clear brown glass vase was introduced in 1923. It was designed by Suzanne Lalique, the daughter of René Lalique. Although the work of Suzanne, the vase, with its pattern of large beetles acid-etched on the surface, reminds us of René’s best-known works, decorated with dragonflies and other insects. Nevertheless, Suzanne was an artist in her own right, and her watercolors influenced much of the Lalique production from 1920 to 1930.
It is credited Gift of Stanley Siegel, from the Stanley Siegel Collection.
