Sampler (Scotland)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Isabella Grant. It is dated ca. 1800 and we acquired it in 1974. Its medium is silk embroidery on wool foundation and its technique is counted and uncounted stitches; cross, satin, back and couching stitches on plain weave foundation, with velvet appliqué. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Rosalie Coe. It is credited Bequest of Rosalie Coe, from the collection inherited from her mother, Eva Johnston Coe.
