Embroidered Picture, Fame Adoring Shakespeare's Tomb

This is a Embroidered picture. It was after Angelika Kaufmann and Maria Anna Angelica Kauffmann. It is dated ca. 1800 and we acquired it in 1974. Its medium is silk embroidery on silk foundation, some painted details and its technique is embroidered in satin, stem, speckling, knot, and detached chain stitches on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Unknown. It is credited Gift of Anonymous Donor from the Fraser/Martin Collection.
