Chintz Border (India), ca. 1800

This is a Chintz border. It is dated ca. 1800 and we acquired it in 1973. Its medium is cotton and its technique is mordant for 2 reds, black and purple applied over resist; madder dyed; blue applied by immersion over resist; yellow applied over blue for green; chintz on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
