Chintz Fragment (India)

This is a Chintz fragment. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1973. Its medium is cotton and its technique is mordant for 3 reds applied by brush or pen following pattern outline; madder dyed; blue applied by immersion after application of resist; chintz on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
