This is a Fragment. It is dated late 17th–early 18th century and we acquired it in 1972. Its medium is silk, metallic yarns and its technique is damassé weave in 8-harness satin plus plain weave with floats of alternate wefts and discontinuous supplementary weft patterning (brocade), all bound in 3/1 twill. It is a part of the Textiles department.
