Fragment, late 17th–early 18th century

This is a Fragment. It is dated late 17th–early 18th century and we acquired it in 1972. Its medium is silk, metallic yarns and its technique is compound weave in 8-harness satin with floats of of the foundation weft and continuous and discontinuous supplementary weft patterning bound plain weave by a supplementary warp. l. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Mrs. Benjamin Ginsburg.
