This is a Fragment. It is dated late 16th century and we acquired it in 1971. Its medium is linen and its technique is bobbin lace, discontinuous tape. It is a part of the Textiles department.
The steps in making 1971-50-362:
1. Two separately made S-curves
2. A second shape linked into the two S-curves which were placed symmetrically to form a blossom
3. Several blossoms and S-curves put into position, all held together by a braided grid
