This is a Pleated fan. It is dated 1775–85 and we acquired it in 1970. Its medium is painted and gilded silk leaf with tambour work and metallic spangles, carved and pierced ivory sticks, mother-of-pearl backing on guards, glass stone at the rivet. It is a part of the Textiles department.
