Center Table (China)

This is a Center table. It was manufactured by F. Barbedienne Foundry. It is dated 1855–60 and we acquired it in 1968. Its medium is bronze, enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Barbedienne's large Paris manufactory produced some of the finest furniture and bronzes in the exotic and revival styles during the latter half of the nineteenth century. His pieces were awarded prizes at many of the Universal Expositions and he provided furnishings for imporant commissions, such as the Hotel de ville and Prince Napoleon's "Maison Pompeienne" in Paris. This object was donated by Mrs. Chester D. Noyes. It is credited Gift of Mrs. D. Chester Noyes.
