Mirror

This is a mirror. It is dated ca. 1760 and we acquired it in 1968. Its medium is carved, gessoed and gilt pine, mirrored glass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

While not of the period of the surtout de table, this pier mirror was designed to reflect the light from both the windows it hung between and the candlelight from candelabra on banquet table tops.

This object was bequest of Mary Hayward Weir. It is credited Bequest of Mary Hayward Weir.
