Fragment (possibly France)

This is a Fragment. It is dated late 17th century and we acquired it in 1968. Its medium is silk, metal thread and its technique is foundation fabric patterned by the contrast of 8-harness satin and warp faced plain weave – or damassé – and brocaded extra wefts bound by the foundation warp. It is a part of the Textiles department.
