Print, Advertisement for a Beverage
This is a Print. It is dated late 19th century and we acquired it in 1967. Its medium is lithograph on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
Late-19th-century American consumers were obsessed with advertising—colorful trade cards, cigarette cards, and other prints became highly collectible objects. These advertisements present three brightly colored visions of the pleasures of social drinking, portraying elegantly dressed ballet dancers, happy gnomes, and refined Victorian women.
