Jar (China)
This is a jar. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1967. Its medium is molded, glazed hard-paste porcelain. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
The exterior of this eighteenth century jar is glazed in rusty red brown "Sang de Boeuf" or oxblood. The interior is finished in a muted yellowish tan "Celadon" glaze extending just beyond the lip where it flows into the oxblood exterior, providing a contrast to the otherwise uniform finish.
