Mask
This is a mask. It was agent: Sigmund Rothschild. It is dated 19th century and we acquired it in 1965. Its medium is wood. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Dogon masks are bound up with rituals surrounding death. There is an enormous variety of mask types representing animals, humans and abstract concepts.
