Fragment (India), 18th century

This is a Fragment. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1962. Its medium is silk, metallic thread and its technique is plain weave with complementary wefts and inner warps; binding on the front is 1/3 twill; four dark green, salmon, and yellow wefts; the other colors are bound on the front in 1/3 twill and free floating on the back; the silver is continuous and the silks . It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Richard Cranch Greenleaf (American, 1887–1961). It is credited Bequest of Richard Cranch Greenleaf in memory of his mother, Adeline Emma Greenleaf.
