Waistcoat Front (France), late 18th century
This is a Waistcoat front. It is dated late 18th century and we acquired it in 1962. Its technique is embroidery using satin, stem and knot stitches in twelve colors of floss silk and metal-wrapped silk; coils of metal wire, sequins (paillettes) and paste jewels sewn on silk plain weave foundation. trimmed with four color woven silk fringe. It is a part of the Textiles department.
