Textile (India)
This is a Textile. It is dated late 18th–early 19th century and we acquired it in 1962. Its medium is cotton and its technique is block printed. It is a part of the Textiles department.
The block-printed cottons coming out of north and west India were intended for clothing such as coats or trousers. This pattern of offset rows can be traced back to the Mughal Empire (1586–1753).
