Apron

This is a Apron. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1960. Its medium is gold metallic foil, gold metallic foil wound onto white silk core and white silk and its technique is bobbin lace, metallic. It is a part of the Textiles department.

The gold metallic bobbin-made lace is decorated with bobbin-made gold metallic bands, silk ribbon, metal sequins, stamped metal shapes, cut paper and tassels made of all these materials plus metal-wrapped paper. The lining is yellow silk plain weave.

This object was donated by Harry G. Friedman.
