Plate with Monogram Plate

This is a plate. It was manufactured by Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory. It is dated ca. 1846 and we acquired it in 1959. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Emily H. Chauncey. It is credited Gift of Emily H. Chauncey.

It has the following markings

Underside: [1] "CHÂTEAU DES TUILERIES" within crowned round mark with jagged edge, printed in red [2] "SÈVRES" and "1846" surrounding crowned interlaced "LP" within round mark, printed in gray [3] crowned "LP" flanked by "81" (?) and "46.", printed in green

It is inscribed

On front: [1] interlaced "LP", painted (for Louis-Philippe, King of France, 1830-1848)
