Textile (England)

This is a Textile. It is dated late 17th century and we acquired it in 1956. Its medium is wool on cotton and its technique is crewel embroidery with knots, chain, stem, cross, back, running, roumanian, speckling buttonhole, daisy and thorn stitches with couching and laid stitches on a 2/1 twill foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Mrs. F. Huntington Babcock. It is credited Gift of Mrs. F. Huntington Babcock.
