Dress Fabric (France)

This is a Dress fabric. It is dated 1880–90 and we acquired it in 1953. Its medium is silk and its technique is jacquard woven. plain weave (grey with white stripe) with a supplementary warp (purple). in the centers of the flowers the supplementary warp shares a complementaryfunction with the white warp, allowing it to float on the front. the long floats between mo. It is a part of the Textiles department.
