Sugar Bowl with Battle Scenes (Bataillen-Malerei) Sugar Bowl

This is a sugar bowl. It was manufactured by Royal Porcelain Manufactory, Berlin and model maker: Freidrich Elias Meyer and workshop of Helena Wolfsohn. It is dated 1870–1900 and we acquired it in 1953. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was bequest of Georgiana L. McClellan. It is credited Bequest of Georgiana L. McClellan.

Its dimensions are

H x diam. (a,b: overall): 10 × 9 cm (3 15/16 × 3 9/16 in.) H x diam. (a: bowl): 6.5 × 8.5 cm (2 9/16 × 3 3/8 in.) H x diam. (b: lid): 5 × 9 cm (1 15/16 × 3 9/16 in.)

It has the following markings

Underside of bowl: [1] scepter with additional mark above (blurry), painted in underglaze blue (Royal Porcelain Factory Berlin mark) [2] "C" with three vertically aligned dots, impressed underglaze No marks on lid.
