Dress Panel (France)
This is a Dress panel. It is dated 1780–89 and we acquired it in 1950. Its medium is silk, silk chenille, silk-wrapped corrugated strips of flat metal, silk-wrapped wire coils, feathers, brilliants, paper and its technique is embroidery on 8-harness satin using satin, stem and couching stitches, 5-harness satin appliqué. It is a part of the Textiles department.
