This is a Band. It is dated ca. 1810 and we acquired it in 1950. Its medium is linen and its technique is bobbin lace, valencienne ground. It is a part of the Textiles department.
The male and female figures on horseback flanking Napoleon's imperial coat of arms represent Napoleon and Marie Lousie of Austria at the time of their marriage in 1810.
